What is tertiary health care?
In my research, I've found that tertiary health care refers to specialized care that is typically provided in hospitals like medical centers or regional facilities. This level of care includes complex procedures such as surgeries, intensive care, and long-term treatment for chronic illnesses. It's the third level of health care, after primary and secondary care. It's usually accessed via a referral from a primary or secondary healthcare professional. In essence, tertiary care is the high-level health care we turn to for serious health issues.
